As one of the largest poplar trees in Manchester, at around 120ft, this giant of Manchester had become far too big for its location in between two properties, that were undergoing extensive refurbishment, in Chorlton, Manchester.
The trees root system had severely damaged both driveways and the public footpath. Concerns of damage to the properties foundations were also raised and the decision to fell the tree was reached.
Having checked the tree had no preservation order, Steve used all of his years experience to safely climb the tree via rope access. Expertly section felling the poplar down to its main stem. The huge amount of debris was chipped systematically by the team as it came down, keeping the ground area safe and unimpeded.
A man lift was brought in to enable safe sectioning of the stem that still stood at around 30ft and had a 5-6ft circumference at that height. Finally, tractor trailer units were brought to site and the enormous amount of timber was removed before the stump was ground away.
On this particular job we were visited by a tree officer from Manchester council who had heard the tree was being felled and had stopped in to see that the work was being carried out in an appropriate way.
He was impressed with our work and the size of the tree and commented on how it possibly being one of the largest trees in Manchester. However, he understood the negative impact it was having on the properties affected and left happy that all work was being carried out by a professional tree surgery company. This is the difficult and skilled work Cutting Edge Tree Care is renowned for.
